There's plenty glass definitions in literature, however all these definitions are too complicated for people, who are not well-versed in this particular subject. Glass is simply an amorphous material, acquired as a result of overcooling the alloy to a certain state, after which it assumes identical, mechanic properties as a solid substance (it is hard and fragile). Nonetheless, its internal structure is similar to liquid. The process of changing density proceeds in a constant way, which means that glass become thick slowly during cooling, simultaneously augmenting its viscosity until achieving solid state (fragile). Such process can be reversible, which means that heated glass does not melt like ice, but it slowly becomes soft and ductile. Viscosity changes together with temperature growth until it attains liquid state.

What characterizes glass the most is very weak conductivity and rather big chemical resistance.
